Beginners Courses

The next Beginners Courses are starting on Wednesday 21st July and 25th August at 7.35.

These are 6-week beginners’ courses teaching the basics of Ashtanga yoga. They run on a Wednesday night, starting at regular intervals. The first four weeks of each course is taught in the 7.35-8.45 p.m. timeslot. The last two weeks are taught as part of the Open Classes, starting at 6.30p.m. This gives students the opportunity to experience traditional, “Mysore Style” Ashtanga Yoga and prepares them for the transition from the Intro Course to the Open Classes.

Our beginners courses are primarily aimed at those who have little or no previous experience of yoga. Over the 6 weeks students are gently guided though the first part of the Ashtanga primary sequence with an emphasis on breath and posture. Each class begins with gentle warm-ups and ends with a 10 minute relaxation. Students are encouraged to join the open classes when they complete the course.

Because places are limited on the intro courses it is essential to book in advance (phone, e-mail or in class). The course costs $75 ($65 students/unwaged), and payment is in full on the first night. We accept cash or cheque, but do not have eftpos facilities at the school. Click here to book.

What do you need?

Wear comfortable clothes (track/bike pants, singlet, t-shirt) and expect to get a little bit warm. Avoid eating too much before class, bending is better on an empty stomach! We have changing/bathroom facilities and provide yoga mats and drinking water for your use. You will not need shoes for the class.
